Gaston

The Projected Path of Tropical Storm Gaston

As if the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Florida did not have enough on it’s plate with a category 4 storm about to approach the East Coast, they now have a tropical storm which could become yet another major hurricane.

Currently Tropical Storm Gaston is only a minimal Tropical Storm, with winds of 40 miles per hour. The NHC, however, expects this to change shortly. They expect Gaston to intensify over the coming 5 days and likely be a major category 3 hurricane by Tuesday morning. Gaston is currently moving west at a slow 9 miles per hour, and will continue that direction and speed for the next 48 hours or so. The general movement to the west should continue throughout the NHC’s 5 day projected path. From there many computer models take Gaston into the Caribbean Sea, possibly affecting Puerto Rico and Haiti down the road. Of course it is much to early to predict where this storm will go, more than 5 days out.

All interests in the Caribbean, as well as US Gulf and East Coasts need to pay attention to Gaston over the next 10 days or so. It has the potential to develop into a very dangerous storm.
