At the time of publishing, Gold was trading on the New York Spot Market for $1378.90 an ounce, up over $30 from yesterday’s closing price.

As The Federal Reserve puts hundreds of billions of dollars into the economy, diluting the money supply, and lowering the value of the US dollar, gold is turning into an attractive way to hedge again possible future inflation. Although inflation is not a worry today, fears that the billions of dollars in extra money supply will eventually raise everyday prices, has really helped the precious metal. Commodity prices are already rising, meaning that everyday prices of goods will also too eventually rise, lowering the spending power of the dollar.

Over the last 12 months the price of gold has risen a staggering 25%, or $286.90 per ounce. Other precious metals are also all up this morning including platinum and silver.

All 24,845 precincts have reported. Of the over 7.5 million votes recorded, 53.9% voted against Prop 19, and the legalization of marijuana in the state of California.

If Prop 19 were to be approved, the state would have legalized marijuana and been allowed regulate and tax the nationally prohibited drug. Supporters of the proposition suggested that legalization would help the state, which currently is having an extremely difficult time with finances, raise the much needed additional funds.

Those that were against the proposition tended to feel that the drug should not be allowed to be used in the same way ordinary cigarettes are smoked.

The majority of California’s counties voted against Proposition 19, with the exception of 10 counties on the states western coast, and two counties on the states eastern border. The counties that voted in support of legalizing marijuana were: Sonoma, Marin, Alameda, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Cruz, Monterey, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Alpine, and Mono. All the other counties voted “no” on Prop 19.

It was Amendment 4, and it asked voters to decide on whether or not to approve it. On election day, most Floridians didn’t even know what the extremely complicated question was asking them or what the Amendment was proposing.

Basically, the amendment wanted to make it so that a special ballot would have to be set up for the public to vote on changes made to land-use plans. The Amendment would have given Florida voters the right to make more decisions when it came to city and county comprehensive land-use plans in the state. However it would have also cost taxpayers more money in order to have these special ballots set up, as well as up to 200,000+ jobs.

Amendment 4 needed 60% of voters to vote “Yes”. The results have now come in and 67% of voters voted “No” on the Amendment, thus nothing will change when it comes to comprehensive land use plans.

Texas contributed a large number of Representatives to the Republican side this election, and also had a highly publicized Governor’s Race.

The election for Governor of Texas included incumbent Republican candidate, Rick Perry, against rival Democrat Bill White. With 99% of all votes accounted for in Texas, Rick Perry has won 55% of them, which Bill White walked away with 42% of the vote. In total Perry received 2,733,784 votes to White’s 2,102,606. Perry is just one more Republican in the US winning a Governor’s race, after their party also dominated in several key Senate and House elections.

Elsewhere within Texas politics, 32 seats in the House were up for grabs. Out of the 32 district votes, 23 Republicans won, while just 9 Democrats walked away victors. There were several blowouts as election results began coming in. District 1 went to Republican Louie Gohmert who commanded 90% of the vote. District 2 also went to a Republican, Ted Poe, who garnered 89% of the vote. Overall the Republicans have to be feeling pretty good about themselves after many key victories in Texas.

Despite recent polls prior to the election showing that Angle was slightly in the lead, Reid has managed to pull off a rather decisive victory in the state. This has some Republicans crying foul, even going as far as asking, “Did Harry Reid Steal the Election for his Nevada Senate seat, as well as his position as the Senate Majority Leader in a Senate that is barely controlled by Democrats”?

Four pre-election polls, just days before Tuesday’s elections indicated that Angle was ahead of Reid. A Rasmussen Poll conducted Monday showed Angle leading Reid 48-45, while a poll conducted by Public Policy Polling showed Angle ahead 47-46, which was also conducted on Monday, the day prior to the elections. A recent article on Prison Planet asks if Reid did in fact steal this election, bringing up the point that early voting in Clark County showed that some machines may have automatically checked Harry Reid’s name on ballots.

Maybe there will be an investigation into voter fraud, but the likely cause of the discretions are probably just polling errors. There were several pre-election polls in other states which ended up a far cry from the actual election results. For instance, in the Florida Governor’s race, most late polls indicated that Alex Sink was slightly ahead of Scott, however Scott has walked away the victor. In the Illinois election for Governor, Bill Brady was predicted to win by several points, however, it looks like Pat Quinn may in fact walk away the victor.

Is it possible that Harry Reid may have somehow rigged machines and stole this election? Sure. Is it likely? No.

The race for state governor was one of the closet out of all the other nationwide elections. Up until only hours ago, most election result news reports showed Republican Tom Foley ahead of Democrat Dan Malloy by a few thousand votes. However, it appears as though Malloy has won the race for Governor of Connecticut by a mere 3,103 votes. He has been projected to be the Governor-elect by the Secretary of State, and no recount is expected to be made.

For a recount to be made, a candidate would have had to win by 2,000 or fewer votes, thus the Ex-Mayor of Stamford, Connecticut will become the new Governor of Connecticut.

Polls prior to the Connecticut election showed an expected close race, with a slight edge to Republican Tom Foley. However, Malloy looks to have pulled out a minor upset.

While it looks as though Malloy has won the election, Tom Foley has yet to concede the race until his campaign can look over the numbers to come to a conclusion.
