Rand Paul Wins As Kentucky Election Results Stream In

In what has been a highly publicized election in the state of Kentucky, the Republican candidate, Rand Paul has walked away with an easy victory over his Democratic rival, Jack Conway. As the tail end of election results come in in Kentucky, Rand Paul has 56% of the popular vote, compared with Conway who received 44%. At the time of publishing this article, 97% of all votes in the Kentucky Senate race have been reported.

Exit polls in Kentucky showed that 60% of males voted for Paul, while just 51% of females did. The Republican Rand Paul also seemed to appeal to more affluent, older individuals. Paul who is the son of Ron Paul, a member of the US House of Representatives in Texas, is also a symbol of the recent Tea Party Movement in America. The 47 year old Republican is relatively new to politics, and prior to entering the Kentucky Senate race, had only experience giving political speeches for his father Ron in 2008, during his Presidential bid.

Other Kentucky Election results indicate that Republicans won the House for District’s 1, 2, 4, and 5. District 3 was won by Democrat John Yarmuth, and District 6 is still too close to call.
