On Wednesday, Apple announced a whole array of ipod products, the New Apple TV, iTunes 10, and iOS 4.1. The Apple event lived up to expectations for most.
The new itunes 10 has a social music network built in, called Ping. The network can be accessed from various Apple devices, and is sort of a Facebook for music. You can become a fan of your favorite artist, see who your friends are buying music from, along with many other nifty features. Steve Jobs explained it as follows, “Facebook and Twitter meet iTunes.” Ping certainly adds a major social networking component to the new iTunes. Another addition to the new iTunes include a new way of displaying music including album art for anyone who has more than 5 songs from a given album. The new iTunes will be available to be downloaded sometime today.
Steve Jobs also gave us a sneak peak at iOS 4.2 which will be released in November and will feature the much anticipated multi-tasking for the iPad. Other announcements were the new iPods as well as the new Apple TV which is about a quarter the size of the original.
