I like it on the floor facebook

I like it on ......

For those of you who have been seeing odd Facebook status updates, being posted by women that you are friends with on Facebook, you are not alone.

You may have seen status updates like:
* “I like it on the floor.”
* “I like it on my bed.”
* “I like it on the kitchen counter.”
* “I like it on the kitchen table.”
* “I like it in the classroom.”
* “I like it on the couch.”
* “I like it anywhere.”

OK, you get the drift. Well, don’t get scared if you see your friends mom posting something like this. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and it is becoming an annual event to post “strange” Facebook status updates in the month of October.

Last year, women were asked to post the color of their underwear, in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. This year, they are asked to post “where they like to put their purse”.

Now you know that your sister isn’t talking about where she likes to do a dirty deed. She is simply posting on her Facebook profile where she likes to place her purse.

If you are a woman, let your friends know where you like to place your purse. Post a status update now.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_6JYXVQMYVLYD4XKTAAIHQTAZCA Seymour

Directly, it doesn’t. But like another article ( http://tech.spreadit.org/i-like-it-on-facebook-i-like-it-on-the-floor-status/ ) says, it sparks enough interest for people to find the real answer. I’m guessing like a viral-marketing kind of thing, but this time with a very benevolent purpose.

way to whore it up. How the hell does this support breast cancer awareness? it’s just an excuse for women to act dirty and pretend its for a good cause, don’t bs yourself, its intentionally constructed to appear sluttish!

but, its us men googling it, why do we need to be informed about it? women are the ones who need to be aware of it and stuff

Actually EVERYONE needs to be informed about it, even men. My papaw was diagnosed with Breast cancer a few years ago so he’s proof that it does happen. Everyone has Breast tissue its not just a female issue. :)

this is the most ridiculous thing ive ever heard of. MEN GET BREAST CANCER TOO!! and I’m sure you have women in your life. It would be nice if you cared about something that could actually kill them.

  • Anonymous

I’m sorry but I disagree with this tactic for raising breast cancer awareness and I am a teen. I raise money for breast cancer every year and I get the teens involved by putting on a dance performance each year using local dance studios and schools. It is called Dancers Against Cancer and it is a national organization. http://www.dancersagainstcancer.org I believe that raising money for the fight against breast cancer far outways posting a facebook status to raise awareness. Especially one that makes teen girls look permiscuous. It would be better to donate $1 to the cause.

  • Anonymous

I totally agree and I am a 16 year old girl. There are many other ways to promote breast cancer awareness without having to appear like a slut!

For instance I raise money each year and get the teens involved by putting on a dance performance each year using local dance studios and schools. I like it stolen from her, as my accomplice provides a clever distraction. I also like it in my hands, violently grabbed as I speed away laughing on my moped in Italy. Sometimes I just like it lifted from right under her as she falls asleep on the train. Happy breast cancer awareness month.

  • http://www.facebook.com/benliew Benjamin Liew

It’s interesting that you say that they are appearing like a slut. How is saying something that is totally not sex related appearing like a slut? Simple. It’s only how the viewer perceives it. They say when you point the finger and accuse someone else of something, it’s a reflection of one self.

    Think about that.

I now know what these updates mean and I think it’s smart use of social media because I actually googled what it meant and now I know. My awareness has been raised. Well done whoever thought this up.

A good way to support would be to like all of your girl friends status’ to help spread the message, then comment on them saying you have donated to the cause or taken the time to read up on the effect or contacted someone who has been affected and spent some time with them.

Well if you asked them and they make it a secret, the topic becomes suspicious and the natural way to think is to get ideas from a pool of suspicious/malicious ideas. What’s the point of keeping it a secret to men anyway?

  • Anonymous

But it’s only if you asked them -and- they make it a secret. A lot of female friends (late-adolescent) I have are pretty unsecretive about it, so I’m gonna just assume most late-to-post adolscent females are so.

To all you nay-sayers: LIGHTEN UP!!!!

  • Anonymous

i can definitely see both sides of the argument here. first of all … it definitely gets peoples’ attention. but i’m willing to bet you that over half of the people that either post this in their status or comment on it, have no idea what it’s for .. it’s just a funny inside joke for women to drive men nuts (“yikes! why is my wife/sister/mom posting this racy information?”) … i actually had to dig to find out a) what was really liked on the floor and b) what the sole purpose of it was. same thing with the color of underwear last year. numerous women posting what they knew would come across as sexual innuendo and getting away with it because they knew all they had to do was tell the real meaning behind it to get out of any unfortunate misunderstandings.

Excuse me…And it’s not my brain that is dirty. It is the guys that read the statuses that think they are talking about something dirty and some of the girls carry it way too far that have nothing to do with where you put your purse. And I’m not quite sure what you mean by I do worse.
I am sixteen and a virgin, and plan to stay that way until marriage.

According to cancer.org, men have 200 times less chance of getting breast cancer, so, yes, men are not in danger surely, 2000 men every year in 2010 got breast cancer with respect to 200’000 women.
Oh, BTW I am a cancer biologist.

  • Anonymous

First of all the fact that you claim you are a ‘cancer biologist’ just makes it even funnier to me. Apparently you’re english comprehension and expression skills aren’t that well. I think what you are trying to say is that women have a greater risk of getting/developing BC.

Btw, those 2000 men that you mentioned aren’t in danger??? I’m asking this because, according to you. ‘men are not in danger surely’. I think you’re words are a slap in the face to them.

***FYI- ‘less of a chance’ still means there is a chance!!!!!!

  • Anonymous

You are ignorant. You must not have any women in your life and I can see why.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_MXQEENN3OR46RIOY7EZ3LQYFNE RoN

    damn two “e”.

  • http://www.facebook.com/aliyah.mannan Aliyah Mannan

I think the point is for people to be curious about what your saying…so they will look it up. Therefore making them aware. Maybe next year you can come up with a breast cancer awareness project.

  • http://www.facebook.com/scottreynolds74 Scott Reynolds

Oops. Before you decide to rag on someone for having poor “english expression skills” you should at least try to get down some of the simplest nuances of the language yourself.

“Apparently you’re english comprehension and expression skills aren’t that well.”
“I think you’re words are a slap in the face to them. ”

    You’re = you are
    Your= possessive pronoun

    Hilarious :)

I think people are being silly over analyzing the tone here. In something so simple as this, people cause too much drama.
Fundraisers are always being done, and people are doing everything they can to help regardless of if this trend has been started or not.
Its use to help raise awareness is just to further assist what’s already out there as far as I’m concerned. And how people decide to handle it in their status is completely up to them. The purpose isn’t entirely to sound “sluttish” as far as I’m aware. Some people just happen to take it in that direction out of personal choice.
I found it in a status, and googled it because I was curious. And it has come to my attention, and as a result I am thinking about Breast cancer as a response to knowing what it means. As well, I likely will every time I see it in a status.
I think its effective. Not everyone responds the same, but the intention as far as i can see is that at least some do! : )

    Thanks for defending.

  • http://www.facebook.com/ozdemirhan Ozdemirhan Sercin

    Ignorant?
How can one come up with such an idea by just looking at a comment?
You should have some issues yourself, solve them and come back to talk science if you have any kind of knowledge at all.
