The Barclays’ Pro-Am golf tournament from the Ridgewood Country club, in Paramus New Jersey got underway. The tournament is getting publicity for several reasons, mainly due to Tiger Woods. It will be Tiger’s first golf tournament since he finalized the divorce with his wife, Elin Nordegren.

As all eyes were on Tiger, and his personal life, another rather surprising event occurred at the Ridgewood Coutry Club. Yesterday Jim Furyk, who happens to be ranked No. 3 in points entering the PGA Tour Playoffs for the FedEx Cup, missed his tee time, and thus was disqualified from the entire 2010 Barclays Tournament. Furyk was later seen and talked about his feelings towards the disqualification, “The rules are rules. No matter what tournament it was, I’d be upset. But I’m more upset because it is this one. We are here are the end of the (Playoffs). .. I’m beside myself, but I have a way of climbing into stupid situations.” The reason he missed the tee time was due to his cell phone battery going dead, leaving him without an alarm. He arrived just 5 minutes too late.
