Advertising on MoviesToday Disney as well as Warner Bros. announced that they are suing an internet advertising company called Triton Media. I’m sure you are familiar with the dozens of websites out there that allow visitors to watch movies online for free, some of which have yet to be release even on Netflix yet. Well these sites are primarily illegal and a form a piracy. The movie studios have had enough it seems, and are going after the company which is helping these sites monetize that material via advertising, Triton Media.

According to the lawsuit, Triton has had a sybiotic relationship with 9 of these sites, which include free-tv-video-online.info, donogo.com, watch-movies-links.net, and thepiratecity.org. The lawsuit goes on to claim that Triton as well as these 9 sites profited from the distribution of the pirated material, and Triton made it possible with “material assistance.”

This is not the first time movie studios went after a third party for pirated material. Back in 2004 a company called Perfect 10 went after Visa and Mastercard for providing credit card support to pirates. Perfect 10 failed in their case, however, market experts think Disney and Warner Bros. may have a better shot.
